Don't bother Googling "how to train my brewery sales rep"

You won’t find much, I promise, I’ve done it. Which is basically the reason I started this company. There’s nothing out there folks. It’s nearly impossible to find readily available resources to train your brewery sales rep. No books, no videos, no corporate trainers that know the craft beer world. Until now…

Normally it takes over 6 months to fully onboard a new brand rep, but who wants to wait that long? No one. You’re running a brewery, so you’re already short on time. Raw materials are expensive, so you’re already short on cash. You need sales today…you needed sales yesterday. Our beer market is not getting any smaller, it grows every day and that means every 24 hours that pass, our market gets more and more competitive. So how would you like to boost the profitability of your sales efforts and not have to pony up thousands of dollars to do so? My new online strategy course in craft beer sales will do just that. BEER SALES 101 IS NOW OPEN FOR ENROLLMENT and you only have 7 days to join me before the course closes. Spots are limited, so pull the trigger today if you want to get in before your competition does. Plus you’ll get a great BONUS if you enroll today, keep reading to find out what that is…

When I started my career as a brewery sales rep I got zero training, in fact I got one day in the market with my co-worker who’s region I was inheriting, and then he moved to San Francisco the next day. I was told to sink or swim, and over the next few years I had to teach myself how to navigate my sales region, create lasting relationships with buyers, learn new industry jargon, conduct large scale brand presentations at my distribution houses, and sell import beer in a very craft beer heavy landscape. Other reps in the field joked about the lack of training that everyone received and shared stories of screwing up big deals with chain stores and making asses of themselves in front of buyers because they weren’t properly prepared. Fast forward 10 years, I’m a regional sales manager and I’m still hearing horror stories about sales reps embarrassing themselves in front of key account buyers and distribution management. I was also fresh off a 3 day “sales training seminar” in Phoenix with a supposed “beer sales expert” at a cheap hotel, away from my family, doing role play activities that would never serve me properly in my own sales territory. The only good thing that came out of that seminar was that I was gifted a copy of Robert Cialdini’s best selling book, “Influence.”

My biggest takeaway from all of these experiences is that the craft beer industry has a problem with training. There’s not a lot of viable options out there to train brewery sales reps. You either have to fork over tens of thousands of dollars for a corporate trainer that doesn’t know the beer business or you have to hunt down one of the very few beer sales trainers out there who is approximately 108 years old and still teaches how to make cold calls on a rotary phone.

So I’ve made it my personal mission to make sure that proper sales training is affordable and convenient for breweries of all sizes and income levels. Proper training shouldn’t be reserved for the brewery elites, the multinational production houses that have in house trainers and sales teams of 100+ people. I want to share with you the tactics and techniques that I used in the field to build a successful, decade long career in beer sales and management in a way that’s convenient for just about everyone…online.

BEER SALES 101 is a comprehensive beer sales strategy course that will provide your sales rep or brewery employee or even an owner with the knowledge and confidence they need to navigate and succeed in our crowded beer market. But don’t just take my word for it…

“While the beer and brewing industry is large and growing, finding a specific person or organization to provide genuine sales training was difficult. Julie was recommended through a peer group and I wish we had found her five years ago. There is so much that would have been done differently in our brewery’s infancy. Her experience and knowledge and authority as a beer sales rep comes through clearly. She knows what she is talking about and presents the information in such a way that is accessible, attainable, and significant. Watching the webinar with my salespeople was awesome. The conversations that were sparked, the revelations that were had, and the empowerment that was felt were palpable. There was excitement about the improvements in our sales process we discussed. I saw creative thinking and problem-solving happening. It was hard not to smile. I fully expect to see our sales volumes and revenues to increase due to the training that Julie provided.”
